The Komatsu HM-300 Articulated Haul Truck provides our members with the opportunity to gain experience in operations such as loader and excavator truck loading, as well as navigating a driving confidence course. These theoretical and practical skills are aimed at helping students become more confident and skilled Articulated Haul Truck operators.

This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to recognize and manage fall hazards in the workplace. Participants will learn about fall protection systems, including fall arrest system components, how to properly inspect fall protection equipment, and strategies to eliminate or control fall hazards through effective safety measures. Successful participants will receive a Certificate of Completion, valid for three years.
Please note that during the practical exercise you will be suspended in a harness for a short period of time.

Class 5 Forklift - Blended Learning
This blended learning course offers a combination of online theory and a full day of instructor-led practical training. The 1-hour online theory lessons must be completed on your own time prior to the course start date. During your practical training, you will learn the essential skills for operating a counterbalanced, vertical mast forklift as outlined in CSA B335-04. You will also locate and interpret information and machine capacities directly from the owner’s manual. Practical exercises and a theory exam will be used in the evaluation process. Successful students will be awarded a Class 5 Forklift Certification, valid for three years.

This comprehensive safety training course, developed by Energy Safety Canada, is designed for workers who may encounter hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) gas (sour gas) in their workplace. It covers the properties and health risks of H₂S, including its toxic nature and symptoms of exposure. Participants will learn how to detect H₂S gas, use the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and implement emergency response procedures, including rescue techniques and first aid. Successful students will be awarded an ESC Certificate, valid for three years.

This course teaches participants to interpret manufacturers’ load charts. Students will learn how to calculate gross loads, determine maximum radius, analyze gross capacity percentages, and utilize range diagrams. In addition, it also focuses on understanding manufacturers’ notes and safety warnings within the Load Chart Manuals. Participants will gain hands-on experience with load chart calculations involving various capacity restrictions to ensure safe and efficient crane operations. The training will cover a variety of cranes and boom trucks including crawler cranes, all-terrain cranes, and rough-terrain cranes.

Mobile Crane 1st Period Apprenticeship Technical Training
This 6-week course follows the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (A.I.T.) Crane and Hoisting Equipment Operator Outline. The course offers a combination of theory and instructor-led practical training. The course covers federal and provincial regulations, crane components and systems, mathematics, load chart interpretation, and basic operating procedures. Practical training includes crane inspections, set-up, configuration, and operation. Students will complete field exercises using a Liebherr LTM 1070-4.2 all-terrain crane, a Tadano GR-350XL-2 rough-terrain crane, and a HIAB articulating (knuckle or folding) boom on a Peterbilt 548 chassis. At the end of the course, students will write the provincial first period mobile crane examination with A.I.T. First Period Mobile Crane accreditation will be awarded to successful students.

This two-day St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid course covers all aspects of Emergency First Aid, including Level C CPR and AED training. Participants will learn to manage a wide range of injuries and illnesses, including head and spinal injuries, fractures in the upper and lower limbs, and other medical emergencies. Successful students will be awarded a Standard Level C CPR & AED First Aid Certificate from St. John Ambulance, valid for three years.

Our Tower crane orientation course is conducted using a Potain MDT 219-J8. The course is designed for 2nd year tower crane apprentices and Alberta mobile crane journey persons that were issued their license prior to September 1st 2018. The course includes pre-start checks, test lift procedures, load moment Indicator programming, load chart calculations, and hoisting operations. The final day will be for evaluation. Successful students will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.
