Mobile Crane 1st Period Apprenticeship Technical Training
This 6-week course follows the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (A.I.T.) Mobile Crane Outline. The course offers a combination of theory and instructor-led practical training. The course covers federal and provincial regulations, crane components and systems, mathematics, load chart interpretation, and basic operating procedures. Practical training includes crane inspections, set-up, configuration, and operation. Students will complete field exercises using a Liebherr LTM 1070-4.2 all-terrain crane, a Tadano GR-350XL-2 rough-terrain crane, and a HIAB articulating (knuckle or folding) boom on a Peterbilt 548 chassis. At the end of the course, students will write the provincial first period mobile crane examination with A.I.T. First Period Mobile Crane accreditation will be awarded to successful students.
