Our Team

Ty Brandt has been a proud member of IUOE Local 955 since 2012. He has run everything from skid steers to side booms, but his favorite place to be was in the seat of a 16M grader working as a finish operator.

Before his promotion to Business Agent, Ty worked on the front lines as a Local 955 Organizer, helping workers find their collective voice and building solidarity in the field.

When he isn’t fighting for the membership, Ty serves as an elected Municipal Councillor for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. This role gives him a direct line into local government and economic development.

Ty also brings a couple of unconventional tools to the table: a background in stand-up comedy and a YouTube channel. Years of reading tough rooms and capturing audiences taught him that sharp, disarming communication is key. 

As a Business Agent, Ty keeps it simple: open communication, absolute integrity, and a relentless commitment to keeping Local 955 members safe, respected, and protected on the job.
