This five day course will take place at our Budd Coutts Apprenticeship and Education Centre. The curriculum includes pre-start checks, LICCON2 configuration, Bluetooth Terminal (BTT) operations, load chart calculations, machine set up, configuration, and operation. The final day is reserved for evaluation. Prior to attending the course members are required to successfully complete a pre-course assignment. The course is designed to instruct and evaluate 2nd, 3rd year apprentices and journeyman crane operators that are unfamiliar with All-Terrain cranes.

This is a blended learning course. You must complete an online theory component prior to attending the in class lessons and practical application portion.
This blended learning course offers a combination of online theory and two days of instructor led theory and practical applications. The online theory lessons (approximately 3 to 5 hours) must be completed on your own time 5 days prior to the course start date.
Developed from the Crosby Group, the course discusses rigger’s responsibilities, Alberta OH&S regulations, sling compositions, hardware descriptions and working load limits. Students complete rigging calculations, identify different rigging hardware, inspection criteria and maintenance practices. Basic load rigging using hooks, shackles, chain, wire rope and synthetic slings will be utilized during a practical phase of the training. Standardized crane hand signals and basic knot tying are also demonstrated. A Certificate of Completion is awarded for successful students.
The in class and practical training will be completed at the Budd Coutts Apprenticeship and Education Centre located at the corner of Range Road 232 and Township Road 584 in Thorhild County No 7. Alberta.

Our Crawler Crane orientation course will be conducted using a Kobelco CK850G-2. The curriculum includes pre-start checks, Load Moment Indicator programming, load chart calculations, machine movement, jib installation and hoisting operations. The final day is reserved for evaluation. Prior to attending the course, the members are required to successfully complete a pre-course assignment. The course is designed to instruct and evaluate 2nd year mobile crane apprentices and journeyperson crane operators that are unfamiliar with hydraulic crawler cranes.

This course is designed to make you aware of falling hazards in the work site. It includes various protection systems as well as components of a fall arrest system. Once completed, members will be able to perform a pre-use equipment inspection and be trained on how to eliminate or control the fall hazard. Certificate of Completion is awarded for successful students and is valid for three years.
Please note that you will be suspended in a harness for a short period of time as part of the practical exercise during the course.

Class 5 Forklift - Blended Learning
This is a blended learning course. You must complete an online theory portion prior to attending the practical portion.
This blended learning course offers a combination of online theory and a full day of practical training. The 1-hour online theory lessons must be completed on your own time prior to the course start date. During your practical training you will demonstrate the fundamentals of operating a counterbalanced, vertical mast forklift as detailed in CSA B335-04. You will locate and interpret information and machine capacities directly from the owner’s manual. Practical exercises and a theory test are used in the evaluation process. A Certificate of Qualification is awarded to successful students and is valid for three years.

Determine crane capacities by understanding manufacturer’s load charts. Understand the importance of gross and net capacities. Learn the difference between structural and stability values. Understand all information contained in the operator’s manual, manufacturer’s notes and warnings. Complete load chart calculations involving various site restrictions to ensure you are within the capabilities of the crane to complete a lift. Certificate of Completion is awarded for successful students.

Our Rough Terrain Crane Orientation course will be conducted using a Tadano GR 350 XL-2. The curriculum includes prestart checks, AML programming, load chart calculations, machine set up, configuration and operation. Prior to attending the course, the members are required to successfully complete a pre-course assignment. The course is designed to prepare 2nd year mobile crane apprentices or Journeyperson crane operators that are unfamiliar with Rough Terrain Cranes. A Certificate of Completion is awarded for successful students.

Students will be introduced to basic earthwork concepts and terms. Candidates will also find information in the owner’s manual to follow the manufacturer’s operating recommendations. Practical exercises and a theory test are used in the evaluation process. Successful students will earn a Skid Steer certificate valid for 3 years.

2 day St. John’s Ambulance Standard First Aid Course. Cover all the skills in Emergency First Aid plus first aid for other injuries and illnesses. Learn how to deal with head and spinal injuries and fractures of the upper and lower limbs. Level C CPR is included. Successful students will receive a Standard Level C CPR & AED First Aid Certificate from St. John Ambulance. The certificate is valid for three years.

Practical exercises and a theory test are used in the evaluation process. Successful students will earn a Class 7 Rough Terrain Telehandler certificate valid for three years.
