The Operating Engineers Local 955 Health & Wellness Trust Fund maintains a benefit plan to support and protect participating Union members and their families. To be considered eligible for Pension and/or Health & Wellness Benefits a person is required to be a member in Good Standing with the IUOE Local 955. The Operating Engineers Local 955 Pension Trust Fund was established on November 1, 1973 to provide retirement income for participating Union members. The Pension Plan is registered in the Province of Alberta under the Employment Pension Plans Act (EPPA) as a Specified Multi-Employer Pension Plan (SMEPP). The Pension Plan is also registered under the Income Tax Act with the Canada Revenue Agency.
The Pension Plan as of December 31, 2011, provides benefits for 2,275 retirees and has 16,880 participants registered under the plan. The market value of the Pension Plan portfolio as of July 2012 is valued at $860 Million and is invested in a diversified portfolio consisting of: bonds, Canadian stocks, U.S. stocks, international stocks, and real estate.

Local 955 members in Good Standing participate in Local 955’s group life insurance that includes a $5,000 Life and $2,500 Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefit. This policy is administered by the Local Union Office and the details can be found by clicking here.
