Scholarships and Bursaries
Local 955 supports a program of scholarships and bursaries for students who are dependents of members in good standing with the International Union of Operating Engineers.The scholarship programs are listed below. Qualifications and application deadlines are described in the specific program materials.
Pipe Line Contractors Association of Canada - Student Bursary Program
If your son or daughter is enrolled in a full-time program leading to a diploma or degree and you have a history of working for a PLCAC contractor member, apply before October 31, 2103. Click here for more details.
N. B. Coutts Local Union No. 955 Scholarship Fund
The application deadline is Friday, August 22, 2014.
Scholarships may be awarded to students, who are members or dependents of a member in good standing with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local Union No. 955. The total amount of each Scholarship has been increased to $5,000.00 to be paid over 2 consecutive academic years of study, in increments of $2,500.00 per year. Recipients will receive $2,500.00 in the first year and $2,500.00 in the second consecutive year while attending. The application deadline is August 22nd, 2014. Applications must be supported by official transcripts and confirmation of enrollment. Applicants who have previously received a scholarship from Local Union No. 955 are NOT eligible however those already awarded and are due to receive their second disbursement need only submit official transcripts and verification/confirmation of continued enrollment. Cal Callahan Memorial Bursary
The Pipeline Contractors Association offers a Bursary, or Bursaries, not to exceed six thousand ($6,000.00) dollars to a son, daughter, or legal ward of a person who derives their principle income from contractors signatory to the Pipeline Contractors Association. Canadian Conference Bursaries
The Canadian Conference of the International Union of Operating Engineers is accepting applications for ten (10) bursaries of seven hundred and fifty ($750.00) dollars. These educational Bursaries are intended to provide financial assistance to I.U.O.E. members’ spouses and children. Robert J Watson National Bursary Program
This year the Robert J. Watson Maintenance Industry National Bursary Program will award 88 $1,000.00 bursaries to the sons and daughters of union members who are attending post secondary education institutions. Union members eligible to apply will be members of local unions which service GPMA or NMA maintenance projects in Canada. The program is named in honour of the longtime GPMC chairman, who was instrumental in developing the unionized contract maintenance industry in Canada.
